Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes | WSAV TV

To date, the ADA has raised over $500 million for diabetes research.


(Savannah, GA) Diabetes is serious.
Nearly 27,000 people are affected locally.
That's why it's important to step out against the disease.
Hundreds of people joined the American Diabetes Association this morning on the grounds of beautiful Oatland Island Wildlife Center.
Before the walk to stop diabetes we got pumped with exercise.
Teams from companies, churches, neighborhoods, and friends and family joined the event.
?The goal -prevent and cure diabetes plus improve the lives of all people affected by the disease.
?Walkers were eager to share why they are helping raise money and awareness.
"It's a class project for our 4 year old Pre-K class to walk. And just help fight diabetes.
And my husband has diabetes so that's a special cause for me," says Jody Domnitz
"We want to help people be healthy and to help them test?just supporting the cause," says Emeka Nwokeji.
The event also featured a health & fitness festival.
