Business interest in becoming green could lead to project and change

More project and change management jobs may have been hired for in the last few years after a new survey revealed that only ten per cent of business owners have done nothing to reduce their utility costs and turn green.

The Forum of Private Business (Forum) revealed that 41 per cent of companies have streamlined their business processes, while 28 per cent have reduced their energy usage.

Furthermore, the survey found that more than one in four companies have embraced more energy-efficient equipment, suggesting that companies are taking the need to become green seriously.

The Forum's chief executive Phil Orford said that many are moving forwards in their desire to reduce their carbon footprint.

"Small businesses see the benefits of green practices and technologies to the environment and, given rising energy costs, to their bottom lines," he said.

"They are clearly taking steps towards introducing them but the lack of adequate support from the government and utilities providers is frustrating."

Roger Hollies, director of Save & Generate, said last month that solar panels could be used in the future to help businesses strive to become green.
