Muniz approached the board of park commissioners and asked for permission to seek funding for the court modernization.? Without hesitation, the board of park commissioners gave their blessing and Muniz began gathering support from the SW Rotary and leading the charge for the basketball fundraiser.

Muniz, a graduate of South Whidbey High School, is passionate about outdoor basketball and wants to give the community an opportunity to participate in tournaments and keep kids and adults active in basketball. Muniz plays regularly at Community Park and recognizes the constraints of the park district?s budget in building such an outdoor court as the one he is hoping to complete this year.

All proceeds will go toward the construction of an official outdoor basketball court at South Whidbey Parks and Recreation District?s Community Park off Maxwelton Road.
